Stream Trailer

LRCD was awarded a grant through the Governor's Wildlife Youth Initiative Permanent Restricted Endowment Funds held by the Wyoming Community Foundation to fund the purchase of a stream trailer.

The stream trailer simulates flowing streams through real sediment to illustrate responses to different land use practices.  It will be used to teach students of all ages about watersheds, riparian zones, erosion control, and stream function concepts.

our outreach activities.  LRCD offers free “Conservation Kids” programs throughout the year to provide an opportunity for both children and adults to learn together about our environment and nature and the impacts our actions have on our natural resources. We are able to provide many of these programs with the assistance from community members.

4-H Four Million Tree Program

Albany County 4-H Camp was held June 22-24, 2009.  On Tuesday, July 23rd, 84 4-H youth and about a dozen adults planted 400 seedlings in the Medicine Bow - Routt  National Forest.  The 4-H students were taught how to plant the trees by Bill Munro, Wildlife Biologist with the Laramie Ranger District.  The youth worked in teams with an older youth wielding the shovel and the younger members planting the seedlings.  This was a collaboration between the Laramie Rivers Conservation District , the U. S. Forest Service and Albany County 4-H.  These 400 trees will be counted as part of the National 4-H Million Tree Program.  The tree planting was listed as a highlight on many of the 4-H students’ camp evaluations.  Community Service and service
