Mosquito Control/West Nile Prevention Grant

The Conservation District brought together 10 local agencies and wrote a grant for funds from the State’s Emergency Insect Management grant to fight West Nile vector mosquitoes.  The grant for $96,000 was awarded to allow rural districts to spray later in the summer, to augment the City’s larvaciding operation, and to improve education efforts in the entire county.

 

Laramie Area Beautification Committee 

We are actively involved with an ad hoc committee of local community leaders from the private sector and government to make Laramie and Albany County a more aesthetically pleasing place for visitors, residents, and prospective businesses.

 

Laramie River Greenbelt

LRCD continues to sponsor the Greenbelt financially and through volunteering in greenbelt trash cleanups, revegetation projects, beautification projects and the annual fund-raising running event.

 

East Grand Entryway Community Tree Plantings

In cooperation with the Laramie Economic Development Corporation and the City of Laramie LRCD matched funds to plant 80 trees along the East Grand Entrance to Laramie.  Over 100 volunteers helped plant trees over two 2-day periods.

 

Wyoming State Science Fair

LRCD offers four monetary awards for best “Conservation Project” and Tony serves as a judge for the Wyoming State Science Fair at the University of Wyoming.
